Firstly, you will want to consider privacy and shade. A key solution to this is to install blinds in your sunroom. This can still allow for lots of light to enter the room, but can also create a barrier from prying eyes.

Space is key when designing your sunroom. You will know how much space you and your family will require to make the room work for you, so make sure you plan around this. Having a sunroom means that you will now have more space within your home for other purposes as well.

Consider how many power outlets you will require in the room. You may not even think twice about this in the planning process, but this is the 21st century now, and everything these days is technical! Think about how many appliances may be used in the space, may it be televisions, computers, gaming devices or even lamps. Also remember, plug sockets are much easier on the eye than streams of extension cables all around the room.

Whilst we are thinking along technology lines, consider how cable and internet can be introduced into the space. Bring your room into the modern world with wired connections, allowing your space to be used by all who want to relax and unwind, or work. It’s worth checking out whether your wireless signal reaches where your sunroom is going to be.

Heating and lighting is also vital when designing a room. You will need to consider how to keep the room at a comfortable temperature all year, as well as keep energy costs low. Lighting can make a room feel fresh and bright, so make sure you get the right amount of light into the room to accompany how the space will be used.
