Will and Kate get a conservatory

…And it’s a matter of national security, it seems.

So, it turns out that a young married couple with a new baby have applied for – and received – permission for a new conservatory on their home in Norfolk.

Nothing new there, as young property owners are always looking for new ways to extend their homes and add space to cater for new family members.

What’s not new is that the young family in question is the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the young family member is Prince George.

According to news reports, King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Borough granted the application for a new garden room, and also a second application to install a glass roof. However, they escalated the application to the Home Office, saying that it was a matter of national security.

Because of the sensitivity of the application, the council circumvented usual procedures, and didn’t upload the plans to their website, a standard happening for most planning applications these days. Luckily for the royal couple, their application was given the nod by planning officials without having to go through the full council, and even the Home Office seemed pleased with the outcome.

So, if you’re in two minds about getting yourself a conservatory, think – what would Wills and Kate do? Answer: Garden room with a glass roof. And if it’s good enough for them…
